Coaching Studio
As an accredited Master Executive Coach with 25+ years’ experience in teams, talent and leadership, I’m passionate about people and performance and creating high performance cultures that deliver results.
Throughout my career I have been fortunate to have worked with so many outstanding people on so many amazing projects, supporting world-class learning solutions across a range of brands and industries world-wide … enabling excellence in organisations, through excellence in people.
In my coaching practice I take a highly conversational, client-centred approach that puts clients at ease, enabling client readiness to step outside their comfort zones and explore and learn, tapping into their strengths and potential in ways clients might never have imagined.
I’m told that my calm presence, deep listening, empathic understanding and thought-provoking questions, empower people to stop and think … differently, navigating challenging situations with renewed confidence and perspective, a solid foundation for success.
Reflective Learning from 25+ Years’ Coaching
What 25+ years’ coaching has taught me is talent and leaders mostly underestimate themselves, holding themselves back unnecessarily. I connect deeply with people, so they connect deeply and differently with themselves, and when we begin to see ourselves and our potential differently, we begin to trust ourselves, be ourselves and enjoy ourselves. No longer underestimating ourselves, we step outside our comfort zones, discovering our strengths and potential for what they really are … and happiness and achievement follow quite naturally.

Client Feedback
-
‘For me, Glenn is very much a Zen facilitator. The way he expresses himself in his calm quietness creates a powerful environment for learning, as people stop and listen. His warm touch and focused approach place the learner at the centre of a very dynamic experience.’
-
‘Glenn is a tremendous coach and he does it in such an unassuming way. He listens with such depth and when he does say something it is always so incisive.’
-
‘What I do say is that the sessions have been life changing for me, especially on a personal level which was a positive influence on my working life. I feel so much more content with the awareness I have of myself and it has allowed me to re-ignite a closer relationship with my parents, which is important to me.’
Coaching Background
Looking back, my coaching career began in the early ‘90s when I led three award winning community development projects in the mental health field as well as when employed as a coach at Shell, long before coaching became the profession it is today.
And the intensive five years’ training as a clinical social worker and therapist, specialising in 1-2-1 and group therapy, could not have created a better foundation for my work as a coach and facilitator.
Clients Organisations
Coaching Style & Approach
Drawing on my background as a clinical therapist, I take an eclectic, client-centred approach that places you centre-stage in the coaching engagement. Working holistically, we’ll draw on a variety of outstanding tools and techniques from a range of coaching methodologies, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, solutions-focused, strengths-based, client-centred and relational methodologies.
Deep Connections
I’m known for my capacity to deeply connect with people, enabling people to connect more deeply and differently with themselves … and when how we see ourselves changes … everything changes.
Unflinching Listening
As an introvert I’m known for deep listening, listening to what you say, what you don’t say and how you say what you say, as well as to what your mere presence is speaking to me from that stillness beyond the noise.
Inspiring Feedback
Drawing on my capacity to listen and observe I’m known for sharing lots of thought-provoking and substantial feedback that has a way of helping clients see themselves and their potential differently.
Unconditional Acceptance
With calm compassion, I create a coaching environment based on unconditional acceptance and psychological safety, enabling unreserved engagement and meaningful conversations .
Stereotypes & Clichés
As an independent thinker, I help people step aside from unhelpful stereotypes, instead helping people to figure out how they can shine, each in their own way, with authentic and sustainable congruence.
Stretch & Challenge
As someone who coaches from his stretch zone, I inspire clients to step outside their comfort zones with challenging questions and stretching feedback that enables renewed depth and perspective.
Thought-Provoking Questions
At the heart of my coaching practice is the enquiring art of asking those simple, yet profound, challenging and thought-provoking questions that help people stop and think … differently.
Themes & Patterns
Clinically trained in the behavioural sciences, my deep understanding of individual and organisational behaviour helps us connect the dots, discovering the problem behind the problem, bringing about lasting change.
Strengths & Potential
Rather than underestimate themselves, I help clients re-imagine themselves, as they discover their strengths and potential anew, and when how we see ourselves and our potential changes … everything changes.
Ever aspiring to discover what mastery in coaching is all about, I embrace the power of not knowing, setting aside all that is known, my experience and success, as something ‘of the past’, and sweeping out the old, we make way for the new, discovering possibilities and potential that can only be discovered when we let go of what we think we know.
Leadership Philosophy
While the idea of leadership is plagued by so many clichés and stereotypes, I’m not interested in the extent to which you measure up to these unhelpful ideas.
Instead, stereotypes aside, I believe everyone has leadership potential within them, each in our different ways, and our work is to help you to discover yourself as a leader.
When we lead in our way … in a way that is right for us … our inner strengths and potential kicks into gear … and our leadership potential emerges with sustainable congruence.
Everyone has a Stretch Zone
Central to Glenn’s coaching practice is The Stretch Zone, which is about authentic confidence under pressure. The Stretch Zone challenges stereotypical assumptions and turns our understanding of confidence on its head … and as people begin to connect with themselves and their confidence differently, they begin to tap into their strengths and potential in ways they might never have considered possible … and we begin to trust ourselves, be ourselves and enjoy ourselves.

Coaching Practice - Case Studies
Career Acceleration
With a consistent track record in coaching high potentials to step up to the next level as CEO, HRD, Director, Head of Level or Team Leader, Glenn steps away from indiscriminate ambition, blindly chasing the next step up the career ladder. Instead, Glenn helps people to deeply understand themselves and what they really want and why they want it, personally and professionally, as well as to appreciate what challenging roles demand and how their strengths and potential stacks up against these demands – enabling sound choices so people arrive in their new roles with purpose, intention and the confidence and readiness to make a lasting difference.
Leadership Development
In leadership, Glenn led a programme aimed at senior officers and managers across a fleet of 17 ships for a marine service provider in Southern Africa over a three-year period. Building on this success Glenn was asked to undertake leadership coaching on-board their vessels at sea, a remarkable experience with so many remarkable people. The project helped the organisation create a culture of leadership, enabling a SHE-Q (safety, health, environment & quality) environment of leadership, ownership and engagement.
Team Development
In human resources Glenn has supported an HRD and her team of Heads and HRBPs to raise their game in a challenging period of change, transitioning themselves out of the details as ‘doer-leaders’, and finding their voice as ‘enabler-leaders’, shaping the narrative as forward thinking, strategic partners. Building on this success, Glenn has continued to work with this team over the past 5 years, with discovery sessions, executive coaching and annual team events, all with the purpose of bringing out the best in a very talented team.
Organisational Change
Over a period of 18 months Glenn has worked with a large group of about 75 scientists in Pharma, alongside their leadership team, with the aim of bringing about cultural and organisational change to address challenges that have undermined their value add for several years. Beginning with 3 rounds of ‘discovery’ calls with the scientists, their managers and stakeholders, Glenn is coaching the leadership team on their professional development, as well as supporting their leadership of a range of change projects to future proof their organisation for years to come – key to this project has been the trust and credibility to help people align to a common cause … and commit.
Qualifications & Accreditations
Professionally qualified in the behavioural sciences as a clinical therapist, I am CIPD accredited in L&D (Level 7 Advanced Award with distinction) and an accredited Master Executive Coach with the Association for Coaching, with a Diploma in Executive Coaching with Hult Ashridge University.
I’m BPS accredited in ability and personality testing, including MBTI, 16PF as well the Hogan HPI, HDS & MVPI, Hays Leadership Styles and SDI, amongst others.
While qualifications and accreditations have their place … experience demonstrates that certificates from our many coaching institutions are unlikely to take people beyond the ‘entry’ and ‘intermediate’ levels of coaching. Institutions institutionalise … and the institutionalised seldom see beyond the smallness of their institutionalisation.
Excellence in coaching, to and beyond the ‘advanced’ and ‘mastery’ levels, requires a different path, away from institutional groupthink. Coaching mastery requires an independent outlook, where rather than being told ‘what to think’, we sail out of the safe harbour of our comfort zones and pioneer through direct experience, discovering ‘how to be’ … and ‘how to think’ independently.
At the heart of this quest for coaching mastery are several essential qualities including, amongst others: independence, humility, temperance, discretion, reason, compassion, common sense, good conscience, experience, strength, tenacity, confidence and a commitment to serve something greater than ourselves. These, together with an insatiable desire to learn, create the conditions for aspired coaching mastery.
